Double Dip Recession

September 23, 2010

Dip into my pay packet,
Leave me with less.
Dip into my pocket,
Feel emptiness.

New Jobs – Old Guff

September 22, 2010

We’re going to have jobs now!
The government has spoken.
And a dozen agencies costing
Us a fortune, aren’t broken.

I actually heard,
Minister Batt O’Keeffe today.
He’d told an agency to,
Increase their jobs target -
Hey…

Presto!

More jobs,
Thousands of more jobs,
That’s absolutely stunning!

He’s not paid,
A million euro,
Over five years,
For nothing.

Bond Yields – No Interest

September 21, 2010

Why do we need to be informed,
Of the borrowing of the state?
Who decided we should be stormed,
With daily news of interest rates?
Bring back all the news of crime,
Of robberies, jobs and lives lost.
If I’m getting depressed on my dime,
I’d rather not know the cost.

Katie Taylor Three Times

September 19, 2010

In Ireland -
Damp, damp, damp.
For a duck, or mushroom,
Ideal.
Barbados -
Champ, champ, champ.
Katie lifts gold, and gloom,
Unreal.

Slurred Vision

September 14, 2010

Loads of whiskey and fags,
And then sing a few songs.
“Shur the country is shagged,
But we did no wrongs!”

What a leader we have,
Today evolution is questioned.
Pints in Fagans was bad,
Hungover on radio – desperate.

Then later, the scrambles,
Try and blame the accuser.
No wonder we’re a shambles,
Our leader’s a loser.

Flaky

September 10, 2010

If You Make A Mistake,
Heavens Break!
Can You Accept It?
And Face The Flak?
Or Is It Too Much?
To Take,
Whatever Is Left
Bar Disgrace,
And Take That?

Opposites Attract

September 7, 2010

We’re really very different,
Of that, there’s no denying.
You live in your own world,
In my world, I am dying.

We play in opposing teams,
In each and every respect.
You’re always full of beans,
I’m usually half wrecked.

You’re eager and competitive,
Your blood type is B positive.
My blood and guts are negative,
Not to try is my prerogative.

We move in different circles,
Sometimes I move too square.
You like poems with four verses,
Again we’re different there.

You say we should agree,
I say we should acquiesce.
Opposites attract you see,
In life and love, and less.

Summer Extended

September 2, 2010

Into September,
And the weather is mighty.
When it’s December,
It’s eaten bread nightly.

Miley

September 1, 2010

You just had to say the name,
And every Irish person knew.
His fame, was the best kind of fame,
His fame brought lots of love too.
