Autumn Approaches

I love Autumn the most, I love the approach.
In August, the shorter evenings encroach.
Then, before you know it, the sprint begins,
September is lurking and sneakily grins.
And leaves on trees recant their sins.
Fruit works harder to fill their skins.
Flies get flightier, stirring fish fins.
One child assumes the energy of twins.
Birds get busier than the busy bees,
Clearing out their young from the trees.
And deep in the earth,
The summer’s simmering,
Has left us with,
Three months of glimmering.
